Dr. Raquel Graham (she/her) is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#2650). She has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Victoria and completed her pre-doctoral residency with Eastern Health in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, hospitals, and university counselling centers.
Dr. Graham is warm and empathic and her approach is client-centered, collaborative, and strengths-based. She provides a safe, non-judgmental space to explore concerns and work towards living a rich, meaningful life. She draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices. Dr. Graham helps clients increase their awareness of unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours, and develop more flexible ways of thinking and coping. She works collaboratively with clients to develop a therapeutic plan that is tailored to each individual's unique goals.
Dr. Graham has a particular interest in health psychology, specifically the relationships between mental health and physical health. She has extensive experience conducting research in the field of health psychology and has worked with clients whose lives have been impacted by illness, such as chronic pain, cancer, diabetes, and stroke. Her PhD research examined the associations between physical activity and symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences.
